Ko the Timeless – “ADAPT” (Official Video)

I was just introduced to this song by one of my friends in music, Nita Chawla, who is a featured artist in it.  “Adapt” by Ko the Timeless, a hip-hop artist from the Washington, DC area, channels influences from Eastern Indian music and old school rap then puts it into a sound I haven’t heard before. This song can be applied to many different situations.  Ko the Timeless even stated it can apply to the music industry.  The music industry, as many of you know, is always evolving.  You have to adapt to it.  It changes every day. I have the video for “Adapt” below.  In addition to Nita, “Adapt” also features Nimit Bhatt & Gurpreet Singh.

Here’s a great article from SNSNIGHTLIFEMAGAZINE.COM providing useful advice about artists breaking into the music industry from somebody who has been in the thick of things. With the wealth of knowledge out there now, there is no reason an artist should get screwed out there, even though the industry is full of sharks ready to suck the life out of those who aren’t prepared.

SNS was out a lot in July 2013 getting the word out about the blog and we wandered into the Konsider Dis studio at 1650 a.m. in Temple Hills, MD to get a feel for the show.  Had NO Idea we would walk away with a straight gem of information from the station owner and former A&R for Warner Defiant Records, Cash Money.

Talking points include the rise of Wale, what label contracts give and take, distribution deals, the importance of originality, brand protection, BMI licensing and the best way to get on in your own city!  Ever heard of a dub plate?  Press play!!!!  You will REPLAY, I promise.  -SNS

Yun6 Canon

Yun6 Canon is back with another video! This time he is a featured artist on Bentley Bucks’ new music.  Bentley Bucks is another rising hip-hop artist from Southwest Philly, The song is called “Come Up Missin'”. The video features some crazy production by Jay Wells Flix. Pretty much, the message is clear, don’t go to Southwest Philly…the life is crazy out there. It is real life and the situations rapped about in this song are daily occurrences, not what these “studio gangstas” rap about. Canon and I are from two different walks of life…some of you would never guess he is not only one of my artists, but one of my best friends too. The video though is major artist quality!

Among all the excitement going on in hip-hop the past two days, this new song by Eminem called “Survival” off of the Call of Duty: Ghosts Soundtrack was just released. No word on if this song will be on Eminem’s new album coming out sometime this fall (We hope the album comes out this fall anyways). This song has a similar vibe to Eminem’s song, “Won’t Back Down” ft. P!nk from his Recovery album.

Here is another article from snsnightlifemagazine.com. This one dives into one of the hottest, rising hip-hop acts in the DMV!

Saturday August, 10, 2013 was a studio coolin kinda day. SNS made it back into the Studio 202 booth with All We Got show host, Marcus Jones and Swerve Gang’s Chinko Black and Teezy Dinero gave us the first drop about their independent label moves. Sweeet, this means we got the exclusive and all the unsigned artists near and far can benefit from giving this YouTube video a click.

In the interview, Teezy speaks about the S-Gang collaborations with Metro Signs Music Group, Tri Digital Records and the area’s own Jungle Land Records. Watch the video to learn how these deals came to take place, and the machinations and responsibilities of contract negotiation. “F— Fake ——- Feed Fam” is the mix tape on the horizon from Chinko Black and Teezy’s first solo album, “Law of Attraction” is in the works as well. Right now, the Travis Scott-endorsed “Upper Echelon” freestyle is available right now on Reverb Nation and before you make that extra move, click on this hyped up interview for a preview of the freestyle skills.
