“In the Circle” by MCB
IN THE CIRCLE
Seems like yesterday we broke the ice
Then it melted away in the pouring rain
I took your hand and I
never thought twice
For the first time, I swam against the grain
In the circle, the bells ring
As the clock struck eleven
In the circle
together in a private wing
Of our own little heaven
I sat and closed my eyes
Hoping this wasn’t our first and last kiss
I’m about to say
goodnight, but to my surprise
You take my hand and pull me into the bliss
In the circle, the bells ring
As the clock struck midnight
In the circle I’d give up everything
Just to see the light
Then the stars
poked through the sky
Making way for this paradise
I climbed cloud nine, and I never felt so high
Stood on top and I rolled the dice
In the
circle the bells ring
As the clock struck one
In the circle I still let my world sling
As I slowly climbed over the gun
Then at the speed
of sound
I put the pieces of me back together
The sunlight hit the ground
Shining through the calm after the stormy weather
In the circle
the bells ring
As the clock struck six
In the circle the birds would sing
Until I got another fix
Then
I woke up and I could not shake
Our perfect moment in the sand
I realized my own mistake
rendered nothing but a wish in my hand
In the
circle the bells ring
As the clock struck eight
I wondered if there was anything
In the world that would even halfway compensate
I was
punch drunk with a hangover
On our bench weighed down by this dirty slate
Hoping to find the four leaf clover
I lost after a twenty year wait
Now it’s nothing but a memory I can cherish with a smile
My hurtful words and empty bottles sealed our fate
No longer do I have excuses for
being so useless and vile
Wish I cherished you like I did that night before it was too late…now it’s too late
